April 23 – Journal Entry

When I began this years “In Their Footsteps” Feeding the Troops, I had high expectations that I would be able to finish building the masonry bread ovens that my sons Ethan and Samuel and myself had started, produce a hundred one pound loaves a day and still have time to reflect on the days events in these pages.

I may have misjudged the level of skill required to build a set of ovens, and produce a single loaf of “edible” bread. I’m afraid my building skills, along with my baking abilities are somewhat lacking. I will however push on and attempt to overcome those obstacles that manifest themselves in defiance of my daily routine.
